A file is opened for a new student upon receipt of the
application form and $50 application fee. All items should
be addressed and sent to the attention of the Admissions
Coordinator.
The Application Form and Fee. The
application form must be filled out completely and submitted
along with the $50 application fee.
Official Transcripts From All Previous Degree-Granting
Schools. These transcripts confirm
completion of either a BA for students entering CGI at
the master’s level, or both a BA and an MA for students
entering at the doctoral level. "Official" means
transcripts generated by the Records Office of the school
itself; not photocopies or student copies. Such official
transcripts usually bear the school seal and are sent
in marked, sealed envelopes. Transcripts of items other
than degrees -- certificates, specialized training, continuing
education, etc. -- are optional.
Two Letters of Recommendation. These
two letters can be written by teachers, academic advisors,
department chairs, employers, or supervisors. (If you
have a question about who might also be appropriate to
write such letters, contact the Admissions Coordinator.)
Both letters should also be written on either school,
company, or personal letterhead.
A Brief Autobiographical Statement. This
is simply a 2 to 3 page essay that tells us something
about your background, your influences, and what made
you decide to pursue a degree in this particular field.
It should not be too personal or revealing. It should
be typewritten, however, and in prose form. A resume can
accompany the statement but cannot be accepted as fulfilling
this requirement.
A Letter Stating Your Degree Intention.
As the title indicates, this is a very short
letter from you stating which degree(s), as well as which
major (Psychology or MFT) you intend to pursue at CGI.
If you are planning on earning both a master’s as
well as a doctorate at CGI, state this in your letter.
